Quit your job, then what?
Well I won’t land a job teaching grammar, but I could with a little time each day. The problem is I have a lot of time and very little ambition. Since I quit my full time job as a soft food manufacturer I have had two part time jobs that could very easily turn into my own businesses.
The Reluctant Launch into Entrepreneurship
The first job was house painting. And the second collecting scrap metal. Both can be done with almost no overhead. All you need is a truck and some simple communication skills.
Example: I had landed a painting job with a man of european descent. On the second day we decided to go to the pub for lunch it seems this was perhaps not such a good idea. Upon returning to the apartment we were painting the boss walked into the kitchen paused for a moment then burst out laughing while falling to the floor. I just stared in wonderment, was he drunk?
He just kept laughing holding his stomach. Finally with tears running down his face he asked ” Why did you paint the fridge….hahaahha…and the the stove hahah ?. “You said paint everything in the kitchen” i replied. The laughing started up everytime he looked at me. And when the owner showed up, to my surprise exclaimed “ Great now I don’t have to buy new appliances ” . I was lucky this time. Not to mention I have a life time job as a comic painter.
It was a simple misunderstanding that could have been avoided. And trust me I didn’t see the humor in it at the time. I actually felt shame at first. Ain’t life grand.
